Clippers was fined $ 50,000 for the statement given by coach Doc River on resting Kawhi Leonard. This fine was imposed by NBA on Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday for those statements, including that of Head Coach Doc Rivers that were inconsistent with Kawhi Leonard health status.

The Clippers rested Kawhi Leonard for load management in a game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday that was televised all over the country. This decision of resting Kawhi Leonard in this game caused a minor uproar over the League’s policy of preventing teams from resting their healthy players in games those are televised nationally.

The league in turn supported the decision made by the Clippers and gave a statement, saying that, Quote “Following additional review of LA Clippers not playing Kawhi Leonard in last night’s game against Milwaukee Bucks, the NBA has confirmed that the team’s decision to sit Leonard for management of an injury was consistent with league’s rules. The team has reasonably determined that Leonard is suffering from an ongoing injury to the patella tendon in his left knee and has been placed by the team on an injury protocol for back to back games” Unquote.

The head coach Doc River gave a statement to reporters that Leonard was feeling great, also because of what the team Clippers has been doing on field. The head coach added that they have to continue performing to that level on the field. The team is not bothered by any concerns and they wanted to make sure of that. He said that Kawhi made the statement that he has never felt any better and it was the job of the team to keep him that way.

This statement of coach Doc Rivers seem to be in contradiction of the idea that Leonard is suffering from an ongoing knee injury.
